Just like SMARTIDIOM, MyManagement is situated in Leiria. Born from the union of several independent consultants, it’s a consulting firm that offers a wide range of services in the areas of Global, Financial and Internationalization Management, adapted to the needs of each client, in a comprehensive mindset, betting on ethical and social responsibility values. SMARTIDIOM was chosen by MyManagement to conduct the translation and review process of an important legal document, having submitted a specific request: the target language had to be in Cameroon French. Being the case of a linguistic variant that’s normally hardly used, the first difficulty was related to the possible lack of resources. SMARTIDIOM wanted to surprise MyManagement in a positive way and knew it could accomplish that goal if it chose its best professionals, preferably ones who resided in the country of destination therefore capable of presenting an excellent final result. On the other hand, in the case of a legal document to be used in Cameroonian territory, it was essential that the legal validity of same be ensured. The particularities of the legal lexicon and the terminological difficulties within the scope of institutional translation and national legislation didn’t make this project seem, at all, easier. But, indeed, rather complex.
Shortly after the project was awarded, SMARTIDIOM’s project manager and human resources department worked together to find native professionals who could respond to this request. After a careful evaluation of the professionals included in the database, the most appropriate resources were selected and were asked to give special attention to the terminology of the Cameroon, one they knew well, so that the text in question was valid in that country. Although the selection process of the professionals to be used is always quite strict, in this project, given its legal nature, it proved essential to ensure that the professionals chosen had extensive experience in this area of expertise. After receiving the translation reviewed by two native professionals, a final quality check was made by the dedicated project manager to ensure that the work to be delivered corresponded to the standards required with regard to terminology, formatting and the client’s instructions.
By being able to offer its clients language solutions in over 100 languages, SMARTIDIOM proved to be up to the challenge, using two of its best foreign professionals, natives in the target language. Accessing a database with a wide range of tested, approved and specialized native professionals, the swift handling of MyManagement’s request was ensured, in a language combination that is less common.
